Only Music In The Building: The Beat Goes On

Watch the series on Hulu!

What a season premiere we had. The leading man died…twice. I was all sixes and sevens since the Season 2 finale showed a murder that did NOT happen in the building. Problem solved!

The very popular hymn, In The Sweet By And By, is heard at the funeral of Ben Gilroy, played by Paul Rudd. The lyrics of S. Fillmore Bennett and music by Joseph P. Webster came out of Bennetts optimistic answer to his blue moods that everything will be alright by and by. This Christian hymn is also heard in Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps.

We discover that Charles Hayden-Savage, played by Steve Martin, has chosen his ringtone to be his own hit song, Angel In Flip-Flops…pitta putta

After a ‘minor’ heart attack, and a little song and dance from Charles, Mabel Mora, played by Selena Gomez, and his son, Will Putnam, played by Ryan Broussard, we discover that Oliver Putnam, played by Martin Short, has reconceived Death Rattle as Death Rattle Dazzle..a musical is born!

The credits identify the song during this reverie as “The Show Can’t Go On” and credits John Hoffman for the lyrics.
