2023 Daily Blog: Kindness

Like most of the country, I have been getting a lot of rain in my area. There’s more coming this week. This is not a simple sprinkle or even a shower. In an area where rain is not a norm, it can wreak havak with travel and safety in the home. We had daily flash flood warnings for a week.

One of the most difficult inconveniences that I’ve been experiencing is with my garage door. The rain gets retained in the wood and it will not remain above about 4 1/2 feet. This is not nearly enough for my vehicle to get under the door and into the garage.

Tonight a neighbor (who I always felt was a bit of a gruff fellow and unapproachable) offered to hold up the garage door so I could comfortably fit my vehicle into place. After that, he went to retrieve a drill to make a hole in which I could insert a screwdriver that would hold the door up. I totally did not expect that and I am so grateful that such neighborly good will still exists.
